Mallak, Oman

In this level, I can see my listening, writing, vocabulary, reading, and grammar skills have moved to a level that qualifies me to start academia. I think IECP has prepared me well to what I am going to face in the future. Therefore, I would like to thank all IECP faculty, especially teachers who had a big impact on me. You made me a better writer, a better speaker, and a more confident person.

Mallak, Oman

Getting a scholarship from the ministry of higher education in Oman was the beginning of my story. To be honest with you, that moment, I was happy and scared at the same time, happy because I will go to America, and scared because my English skills were horrible. I chose studying at the IECP because I wanted to study at Penn State. I arrived in spring 2015. I did the placement test and I was in level two. That was kind of disappointing, but then I realized that I can achieve many goals starting from zero. I finished level two, then three, and now I am talking about my experience after finishing level four. Being an IECP student for the past year made me feel proud about what I have achieved so far. I won’t deny that I was always trying to matriculate quickly, as we all want, but I have never regretted being here because I learned a lot of things. From the IECP, I learned how to communicate effectively with people from different countries, different religions, different world views, and different goals. I also learned how to be a good writer and a good reader. Moreover, I learned a lot about American culture and American people. And the most important benefit is improving my English skills.
